Downtown Salt Lake City Engagement Photo Shoot with Shaylee + Cameron

When I first started out shooting weddings as a photographer I had a one size fits all wedding photography package that included bridals and engagements. Over the years, I had a lot of clients who didn’t want one or the other, and wanted a discount for removing a particular shoot. In order to simplify my photography packages, I moved to an A La Carte package system so that my clients could build the package that they wanted. Lately I have been doing a lot of engagement and bridal photo shoots, and I have been quickly reminded as to why I got started in the business to begin with.

Tonight I had the pleasure to work with Shaylee and Cameron on their engagement photos. We’d been keeping an eye on the weather for weeks, watching for a window of time where we had some warmth, and a sunny evening. This time of year most photographers spend their time shooting indoors, but we weren’t having it! I got a text from Shaylee asking if we could shoot on short notice, and after looking at the weather, how could I tell her no?!

Within seconds of meeting this delightful couple, I knew the night was going to go well. I work with some couples who take a little bit of warming up before we start to get them comfortable enough to open up to me so we can get the real shots that we wanted. I will tell you this, without having to look too far, you will see this couple was NOT that way. We laughed, we cried, we had lots of fun. OH, did I mention that while we were posing for a shot down an alley that Shaylee got POOPED on during the engagement shoot! The skies opened and a pigeon couldn’t wait 30 seconds to get home before he relieved himself and Shaylee got a surprise on her shoulder. Picture you ask? YES of course I took a picture, I had to! I did make a promise that I wouldn’t share it with the world, but maybe if you are lucky enough to know this delightful couple you might have the pleasure of seeing her poop picture.

That said, here are some of my favorite pictures from tonight’s shoot, I am proud to share them!
