We moved into a new neighborhood just a few weeks ago, and from our house, every Friday night it seems you can hear the sound of the Copper Hills Marching Band. Tonight as I was preparing for my upcoming trip, I heard the Band plying. I grabbed my camera and ran over to capture them in action. I wanted to capture them with their game faces on, getting their heads ready for the upcoming performance. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. John Matthews, the Band Director for the school. We spoke briefly, and it was made very apparent that he teaches through inspiration. The students were there because they loved to be there. They were working hard, sweating even, slight mess up and Mr. Made quick corrections, and it showed. A Football Field is a sacred place where boys are made into men, and young girls are transformed into the women they are meant to become. A marching band is an integral part of a football game, both for the fans and for the team. It was exciting to be there for even just a few minutes to see the hard work of these amazing young women and men. Being a photographer I get to travel the country meeting some of the most amazing people on earth. Looking at these students, thinking that they will very shortly be going off into the world, changing it for the better. These students are our future.
