There are many unsung heroes out there that wish not to be called heroes. They are Foster Parents. They open their homes to kids young and old, knowing little about them and their backgrounds. Making themselves and their families susceptible to many problems. When most people run the other direction, these fearless men and women run into the fire with hopes of providing a level of comfort for an unknown child for even a short period of time.
My 3 boys were brought into our lives through the Foster Care system. I remember the day we brought Jackson home, my father-in-law was skeptical and even stand offish. Many of our family members were concerned for our well being, and for what might problems might make their way into our lives because of Jackson. Looking back on what we did almost 8 years ago, there is no chance I would ever take it back. I wouldn’t change a thing, even if someone offered to pay me off. I often look at my boys in wonder of what my life would be like without them. I am not one of those unsung heroes, my experience was was compared to many of the amazing Foster Parents who I have encountered over the last several years.
I had the miraculous opportunity to work with several Foster Parents at a conference this last year, and here is what became of it. I want to share it with the world, so some people who maybe don’t know what it is like, can have a better understanding of what it really means to be a Foster Parent. Here is the video.
“You may be in our home for a season but you’ll be in our hearts forever.”
“However parenthood comes to you, it’s a miracle.”
